Insurance

I do not accept insurance. If you would like to use your out-of-network insurance benefits, a receipt of services can be provided that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is advised that you verify your plan’s out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health services. Each insurer has on its website and out-of-network benefit request or reimbursement form that can be downloaded and filled out. Together these forms (along with a receipt of services from my office) can be submitted to the insurer and the insurer can reimburse an established out-of-network amount to the client.

Please note that many clients prefer to avoid using their insurance despite any potential cost savings. The primary benefit of self-payment is that it prevents a third party presence (insurance company) into treatment. Typically, insurance companies requires that therapy be considered “medically necessary” to pay or reimburse therapeutic sessions/interventions. This coverage often requires the diagnosis of a medical condition and creation of a formal record which is then often considered in future insurance decisions. Further, a health insurer may assign a case manager to assess the particulars of a case and need for treatment. This is often done through phone calls, discussion with the treating provider, and review of records. Many clients dislike the idea of sharing personal and sensitive information with insurers and prefer to avoid engaging in this process, which is why a self pay option may be appealing to some.

Payment

Payment: all major credit cards, FSA (flexible spending account), HSA (health savings account).

Cancellation Policy

The full fee will be charged if no notice is given at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment.
